Neus Sanfeliu

Dr. Neus Sanfeliu is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO). She holds a PhD in Photonics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Her research focuses on neurophotonics and mechanical systems biology, particularly exploring how mechanical forces influence cellular and organismal behaviors. Her work integrates advanced optical techniques like microrheology and optogenetics to study mechanotransduction mechanisms in neurons and biomolecular condensates. She investigates age-dependent viscoelastic properties of biological systems and phase transitions in cellular structures.

Her research group, Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology, develops innovative tools to visualize and manipulate mechanical signals in living organisms. Key areas include neuronal touch sensing in C. elegans, optical tweezer-based rheology, and photonic engineering for neural communication. Despite her early career stage, her publications reflect interdisciplinary innovation at the intersection of physics, biology, and engineering.
