Nermeen Arastu is Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Immigrant & Non-Citizen Rights Clinic at CUNY School of Law. Her scholarship examines racial and religious disparities in immigration enforcement, with focus on post-9/11 civil liberties and deportation defense strategies.
Prior to academia, she litigated at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and directed the Immigrant Rights Program at Asian American Legal Defense Fund (AALDEF). Her advocacy addresses anti-Muslim bias, racial profiling, and surveillance impacts on immigrant communities. She holds a JD from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
