Neoma Sanders serves as an Associate Professor and Field Education Coordinator at Southwest Baptist University with 20 years of professional social work experience, including hospital social work roles and field instruction at Burrell Behavioral Health.
Education:
- M.S.W. from Missouri State University (Thesis: Research Project on Compassion Fatigue in Healthcare Social Workers)
- B.S. in Psychology and Sociology with minors in Counseling and Gerontology from Southwest Baptist University
Her research focuses on compassion fatigue in healthcare social workers, integrating gerontology and ethical practice frameworks. With deep community engagement through hospital ethics committees and crisis intervention teams, her work addresses burnout prevention and community support system development in social work professions.
As Field Education Coordinator, Professor Sanders oversees student field placements and professional development. Her community leadership extends to the Bolivar planning committee and Crisis Intervention Team executive board.
