Nelson Szeto serves as an Associate Faculty member at City University of Seattle, where he has been an internship instructor for the Master of Counselling (MC) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs since January 2023. With 26 years of prior experience as a teacher and school counsellor in the Vancouver School Board, he integrates extensive frontline educational expertise into his academic role.
His professional focus centers on Counselling Psychology and School Counselling, emphasizing the critical connection between personal healing and effective therapeutic practice. Szeto advocates for students to develop self-awareness while mastering practical client-application skills, particularly in educational mental health contexts where theory must translate to real-world interventions.
As an internship instructor for courses CPC 652, CPC 653, ECC 601, and ECC 602, he mentors graduate students through clinical placements, guiding their development of reflective practice and client-centered techniques. His approach prioritizes compassionate therapy grounded in both academic knowledge and personal growth.
