Nele Kortendiek

Nele Kortendiek is a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair of International Institutions and Peace Processes at Goethe University Frankfurt. She serves as principal investigator in the Transborder Mobility and Institutional Dynamics (transMID) research group, directing the sub-project 'International Organisations: Norm-Setting and Norm Implementation for the Protection of Refugees'.

As a political scientist specialising in International Relations, Kortendiek's research centers on contestation and change in global governance. Her expertise spans policy-making within international organisations, non-state actor influence on global politics, implementation of international rules, European and international migration and asylum politics, and normative questions of borders and democracy beyond the state.

Her PhD fieldwork examined international organisations' roles in migration governance at the European external border in Greece and across Brussels, Geneva, Valletta, and Warsaw. She will investigate new forms of policy-making during global transformation at the European University Institute, building on her transMID research on institutional dynamics in refugee protection.
