Neil White is Professor of Intelligent Sensor Systems at the University of Southampton's Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) school and serves as Director of the ECS Centre for Healthcare. He has held various leadership positions including Head of Electronics and Computer Science from 2011 to 2015 and has been instrumental in establishing research initiatives in sensor technology and energy harvesting.
His research interests focus on medical sensors, intelligent sensor systems, and energy harvesting technologies. Professor White's work bridges the gap between engineering and healthcare applications, with significant contributions to wearable medical devices, particularly respiratory monitoring systems. His research integrates micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), energy harvesting techniques, and smart textiles to create innovative healthcare solutions.
