Professor Neil Spurway is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow's School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health, located in the West Medical Building. His work bridges interdisciplinary fields including exercise physiology, evolutionary epistemology, and sports science. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and co-authored Churchill Livingstone's Dictionary of Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine (2008). His research explores topics such as hiking physiology mechanisms ('quasi-isometric' concept) and the philosophical implications of evolutionary perspectives on human cognition and religious belief systems.
Recent work (2022) critically examines the capacity of evolved human minds to apprehend theological concepts through an evolutionary epistemology framework. Earlier research (2007) delves into biomechanical and metabolic aspects of physical activity.
