Negin Boaz

Dr. Negin Boaz is a researcher in the Department of Plant & Environmental Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her lab focuses on elucidating the functions of plant specialized metabolites in natural and controlled settings, emphasizing interactions with herbivores, environmental stressors, and ecological contexts. Key research areas include plant chemical defenses, metabolite-environment interactions, and the adaptation of native species as models for chemical ecology studies.

Research methods include molecular biology, mass spectrometry, CRISPR genome editing, and field/laboratory functional assays. Current projects involve studying Nicotiana species, maize, barley, Brachypodium distachyon, and coffee plants. Dr. Boaz collaborates with international teams and has published extensively on metabolite roles in herbivory protection and plant resilience.
