Neeru Viraj serves as Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and Deputy Course Lead at the University of Wolverhampton's Burton Campus within the Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing. With a clinical background in Intensive Care Unit nursing and over five years of NHS experience, she transitioned to academia in 2015, bringing practical expertise to nursing education.
Her educational qualifications include:
- MA Education from Staffordshire University (completed 19 November 2015), with dissertation research on "Managers’ contribution to support Newly Qualified Nurses (NQNs) during preceptorship"
Viraj's research focuses on optimizing learning experiences for nursing students and newly qualified practitioners through preceptorship program development and innovative simulation resources. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic training, particularly in acute/critical care contexts. As Deputy Course Lead, she shapes curriculum design and student support systems informed by her frontline NHS experience.
Her professional engagement includes Nursing and Midwifery Council membership and leveraging bilingual abilities (Punjabi/Hindi) to support diverse learners.
