Neeraj Rajasekar

Neeraj Rajasekar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Illinois Springfield, joining in Fall 2023. He previously worked at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Luther College.

His research examines how discourse around race and diversity in the U.S. intersects with political ideologies, policy attitudes, and digital media polarization. He teaches foundational sociology courses including Introduction to Sociology, Research Methods, and Senior Seminar, alongside topical courses on race, critical race theory, media, and political culture.

Rajasekar earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2021, employing mixed-methods approaches combining quantitative and qualitative analysis. Outside academia, he enjoys cricket, walking his dog, and cooking.
