Neal Prabhu is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Design at OCAD University and a Co-Investigator with the SystemCity Research Group. His work focuses on innovative housing solutions, urban sustainability, and systemic approaches to urban challenges. He co-authored the 2018 report Exploring Innovation in Housing Typologies, which examines housing affordability, adaptive design, and community-driven planning. His research integrates principles of equity, diversity, and systems thinking to address complex urban housing ecosystems.
Prabhu collaborates with the sLab and contributes to projects like Mapping Neighborhood Ecologies and Alternate Approaches to Urbanized Dwelling. These initiatives explore livable infrastructure, backyard infill housing, and resilient urban policies. His expertise spans housing typologies, community participation in design, and sustainable urban development.
As part of the Strategic Foresight & Innovation Program, he engages with graduate students and professionals to develop actionable tools for urban challenges. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration between academia, government, and industry to create inclusive, adaptable, and future-ready urban environments.
