Nazanin Emami serves as Professor and group leader for polymer-tribology research within the Division of Machine Elements at Luleå University of Technology's Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics, Sweden. She concurrently holds roles as Core Group member and Working Group 2 (Material development and processing) member for LINXS's Advanced Rheometry for Neutron and X-ray Science theme.
Her research centers on Polymer tribology mechanisms governing friction and wear in polymers and composites, with specialized focus on biotribology applications in biological joint environments (hip/knee), lubrication dynamics in physiological systems, and development of bio-compatible orthopedic materials for load-bearing joint implants. This work bridges mechanical engineering with biomedical applications through experimental analysis of material performance under physiological conditions.
Scientific recognition:
- LINXS Fellow
She leads an active research group advancing polymer-tribology methodologies, particularly investigating material degradation pathways in orthopedic contexts and developing next-generation implant materials with enhanced mechanical properties for arthroplasty applications.
