Nayat Sanchez-Pi

Nayat Sánchez-Pi is the Director of Inria Chile and the Franco-Chilean Binational Center on AI, a leading expert in artificial intelligence with an international career spanning Europe and Latin America. She previously held Professor positions at the State University of Rio de Janeiro and Carlos III University of Madrid.

• Education: PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Carlos III University of Madrid (Extraordinary Doctorate Award).

Her research focuses on responsible and ethical AI, emphasizing solutions for critical real-world problems with social, economic, ecological, and technological impact. She has led interdisciplinary R&D teams bridging academia and industry.

Notable affiliations include collaborations with UNESCO, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), and the Global Commission on Responsible AI in the Military (GC REAIM). She has served on the board of the Chilean Association of IT Companies (ACTI) since 2021.
