Navid Nayeri

Navid Nayeri is a permanent researcher and head of the Aerodynamics Group at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Technical Acoustics (ISTA), Faculty of Traffic and Mechanical Systems, Technical University of Berlin. His career spans academic research, industry experience in IT and CFD engineering, and leadership in developing innovative flow control and measurement technologies.

• Research focuses: Turbulent flows, active/passive flow control, wind turbine aerodynamics, bluff body aerodynamics, and aerodynamic measurement techniques.
• Key projects: Led development of the Berlin Research Turbine (BeRT), QBlade software, and DIWA (Drag measurement in Water) facility for train aerodynamics.

His academic background includes a Diplom-Ingenieur in mechanical engineering and economics from TFH Berlin, a Fulbright fellowship at North Carolina State University, and a PhD in Engineering Science from TU Berlin (2000). Prior to joining TU Berlin in 2004, he worked in IT entrepreneurship (1997–2001) and as a CFD engineer for aero engines at ATENA GmbH (2002–2004).
