Nauman Aslam is a Professor of Network Systems and Security in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University, UK. He previously served as Senior Lecturer at Northumbria (since 2011) and Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University, Canada. He holds a PhD in Engineering Mathematics from Dalhousie University (2008). As head of the Cyber Security and Network Systems (CyberNets) research group, his work focuses on wireless body area networks, IoT security, AI-driven network optimization, and QoS in industrial sensor networks. He led the EU-funded gLINK project (€3.03M) promoting sustainable green economies through education and innovation.
Research interests include: Cyber-Physical Systems, Vehicular Networks, Reinforcement Learning applications, and Energy Management in smart infrastructures. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed articles and supervised 12 postgraduate students. His work aligns with UN SDGs related to affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities, and industry innovation.
Current projects include the EU's COVER (Cooperative UAVs for emergency response) and EVOLVE (EV charging optimization). He chairs the CyberNets lab, collaborating internationally on network security, autonomous systems, and smart mobility solutions.
