معرفی
Nathan Sell is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, affiliated with The Foundry: Centre for Digital, Manufacturing & Design. His research focuses on hydraulic systems, mechatronics, and control systems for renewable energy and aerospace applications. He leads and collaborates on projects funded by Innovate UK and Wave Energy Scotland, including HyFIVE (hydrogen storage) and hydrogen control valve development.
Education: PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath (2015), supervised by Dr. D. Johnston, Prof. A. Plummer, and Prof. A. Hillis.
Research interests include piezoelectric pumps, digital hydraulics, and sustainable energy systems. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy. He has published extensively on hydraulic actuation, cavitation phenomena, and fuel system control for hydrogen-powered aircraft.
Grants/Projects: HyFIVE (2024-2027), Hydrogen Control Valve Development (2023-2026), Self-Learning Wing Trim Optimisation (2024-2025). He has supervised research including Jonathan Melling’s work on reciprocating piston-cylinder pumps.
Labs/Teams: Active in The Foundry and collaborates with industry partners on advanced manufacturing and fluid power systems.
