Nathan Robey is an Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology Department at Western Washington University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research investigates lower extremity biomechanics with focus areas including ACL injury mechanisms, neuromuscular control, and postural stability assessments through advanced motion analysis.
Education:
- PhD Sport and Exercise Science (Biomechanics) - University of Northern Colorado
- MS Athletic Training - Texas State University
- BS Athletic Training - South Dakota State University
Research examines injury risk factors through kinetic and kinematic assessments, particularly studying how visual disruptions affect stability in ACL-reconstructed individuals. Current projects analyze gait parameters, landing mechanics, and biofeedback interventions for musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in assessing foot kinematics during walking, postural control under sensory challenges, and EMG applications for impingement syndromes. Work consistently applies clinical biomechanics to rehabilitation contexts.
Robey teaches courses including Measurement and Evaluation in Kinesiology (KIN 306), Human Growth and Motor Development (KIN 308), and Laboratory Techniques in Exercise Science (KIN 510).
No major scientific awards are documented. Research is conducted through WWU's biomechanics laboratory facilities with undergraduate and graduate collaborators.
