Nathan R. Mastnjak, Ph.D., is a Professor of Sacred Scripture at Notre Dame Seminary since 2019. He previously taught at Indiana University (2015–2018) and Brandeis University (2018), and held a Harry Starr Fellowship in Judaica at Harvard University (2018–2019). He earned his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East from the University of Chicago (2015).
His research focuses on prophetic literature in the Old Testament. Major publications include Deuteronomy and the Emergence of Textual Authority in Jeremiah (2016) and Before the Scrolls: a Material Approach to Israel’s Prophetic Library (2023). His work appears in journals like Biblical Interpretation, Hebrew Studies, and Catholic Biblical Quarterly.
Awarded the prestigious Harry Starr Fellowship in Judaica, Dr. Mastnjak’s scholarship bridges biblical studies, material culture, and textual analysis. He contributes to interdisciplinary dialogues on ancient religious texts and their historical contexts.
