Nathan P Kemper

Nathan P Kemper is an Associate Professor of Community and Rural Economic Development in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (AEAB) within the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences (AFLS) college at the University of Arkansas. He serves as Director of Undergraduate and Online Programs and previously held positions as Assistant Department Head for Undergraduate and Online Programs (2021-2023) and Teaching Associate Professor (2020-2023).

Dr. Kemper's educational background includes:

• B.S. in Finance from Missouri State University (2001)
• M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville (2005)
• Ph.D. in Public Policy, with an emphasis in Food Policy Economics, from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville (2016)

Dr. Kemper's research spans community and rural economic development, food policy, and behavioral economics. His extensive publication record demonstrates expertise in consumer preferences for novel food technologies, food waste reduction strategies, agricultural production efficiency (particularly in Kosovo), and economic impact analysis. His methodological approach frequently incorporates query theory to examine information processing in economic decision-making. Recent work focuses on lab-grown meat acceptance, cultural influences on GMO preferences, and renewable energy transitions in rural communities.

As an educator, Dr. Kemper coordinates the Agribusiness Internship and Capstone Programs and teaches courses in microeconomics, farm business management, and marketing management in both face-to-face and online formats. He was named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster by the United States Department of State (2018-2023). His service activities include Vice Chair of the University of Arkansas General Education and Core Curriculum Committee and Faculty Senate Representative to the University of Arkansas Sustainability Council.
