Nathan Kalman-Lamb is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), joining in 2022. Previously, he was a Lecturing Fellow in Duke University’s Thompson Writing Program from 2016–2022, following his PhD in Social and Political Thought from York University (2016). His research critically examines the sociology of sport, labor, racism, and social reproduction theory. Key projects include exploring exploitation in professional hockey and U.S. college football, with a focus on racial capitalism and Marxist-Feminist frameworks.
Research interests center on the political economy of sports, athlete labor, and the intersection of sport with race, class, and gender. Notable works include Game Misconduct: Injury, Fandom, and the Business of Sport (2018) and an upcoming book The End of College Football: Exploitation in the Ivory Tower and on the Gridiron (UNC Press). His public scholarship appears in The Guardian, TIME, and Los Angeles Times.
