Dr. Nathan J. McNeese is the McQueen Quattlebaum Endowed Associate Professor of Human-Centered Computing in Clemson University's School of Computing. He founded and directs both the Center for Human-AI Interaction, Collaboration, & Teaming and the TRACE Research Group. Dr. McNeese pioneers research in human-AI teaming, focusing on trust dynamics, team cognition, and ethical frameworks for autonomous systems.
His work develops empirically-grounded models of human-AI collaboration, examining communication modalities, explanation systems, and adaptive autonomy. With over $39M in research funding, Dr. McNeese leads projects for NSF, DoD, and healthcare agencies. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Sciences & Technology from Pennsylvania State University.
