Natasha Burns, Ph.D., is a Professor of Finance at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), affiliated with the Alvarez College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. and B.S. in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Michigan State University. Her research focuses on corporate finance mechanisms, including executive compensation, cross-country comparisons, M&A dynamics, and institutional ownership effects. She has served as an assistant professor at the University of Georgia and a visiting senior economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Her academic contributions include editorial roles at Corporate Governance: An International Review and The Financial Review, and board memberships at Dr. Patty’s Legacy Fund and STEM Kids NYC. Her work has appeared in top journals like the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Quarterly Journal of Finance.
Research interests span corporate governance, cross-border financial practices, and the interplay between cultural norms and financial decisions. Her recent articles explore CEO turnover patterns, climate-linked compensation, and gender pay gaps across cultures.
