Natalie Nevins, DO, MSHPE, is the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Program Development at Touro University California's College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also holds a professorship in Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Her roles include overseeing residency programs and faculty development, alongside her military service as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. She is enrolled in the U.S. Army War College, pursuing a Master of Strategic Studies (expected 2023).
Dr. Nevins' education includes a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences (1997) and a Master of Science in Health Professions Education (1997). She completed a Family Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at Downey Regional Medical Center (1998–2000). Her military career includes commanding roles in the 820th Hospital Center, Army Reserve Aviation Command, and U.S. Air Force field response units.
Her research focuses on resilience training, simulation-based medical education, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and military/aviation medicine. Notable publications explore pandemic-era medical education challenges, trauma training efficacy, and emotional intelligence in healthcare professionals. She has pioneered hyper-realistic surgical training environments to enhance student preparedness.
Awardees include the Army Surgeon General’s 9A Proficiency Designator (2022), Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award (2020), and multiple military commendations. She serves on national committees such as the American Council on Graduate Medical Education’s Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency Committee and is a member of organizations like the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
