Natalie Hinkel is an Assistant Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Louisiana State University. Her research connects stellar elemental abundances with planetary composition and habitability through the Hypatia Catalog - the largest database of stellar abundances for nearby stars.
Hinkel's work examines how host star compositions influence exoplanet interiors and mineralogy, particularly for Earth-sized planets around M-dwarfs. She leads the proposed SAKHMET balloon mission to obtain infrared spectra of M-dwarfs from Antarctica.
Her interdisciplinary approach bridges astrophysics, geochemistry, and astrobiology to understand planetary system formation and evolution.
