Natalie Al-Samarrai is an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Finance at the University of Birmingham Dubai campus, part of the Birmingham Business School. She serves as Programme Director for the BSc Accounting and Finance program and teaches across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Her research focuses on Management Accounting and Business Strategy, with a strong emphasis on practical and professional applications in education. She integrates real-world experience from her career in chartered accountancy into her teaching methodology, fostering deep student engagement and success.
Natalie is a qualified Chartered Accountant with ACCA and ICAEW, bringing over 16 years of experience in professional accountancy education in both the UK and UAE. She previously held a senior leadership role as ACCA Product Head in Dubai and has served as an External Quality Assessor for AAT in the Gulf region.
She is widely recognized for her dedication to student development, with many of her students achieving global, regional, and national prizes in chartered examinations.
She also contributes to academic governance, having sat on a university strategic advisory board in the region prior to joining the University of Birmingham Dubai.
