Dr. Nat Kav is a Professor and Vice Dean at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, within the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science. He holds extensive leadership roles, including Associate Dean (Academic), Vice-Provost (Programs), and multiple terms in academic leadership positions since 2008. Dr. Kav earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary. His research focuses on applying proteomics and genomics to improve crop resilience through biotechnology, emphasizing plant responses to stress and non-coding RNA roles. He teaches courses such as Introductory Biochemistry and Invasive Alien Plants, and has authored over 50 publications. His awards include Fellowships from the Royal Society of Biology and Royal Society of Canada.
