Natália Otto

Natália Otto is an Instructor (Tenure Track) in Sociology at the University of Minnesota. She is completing her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Toronto and holds a Master's degree from the University of São Paulo. Her research employs narrative methods to analyze intersections of structural violence and personal experience.

Her current book project investigates:

• Gendered violence in Brazilian cocaine economies
• Economic precarity and state violence dynamics
• Biographical impacts of urban marginality
• Transnational drug trade consequences

Using interviews, archives, and judicial documents, she examines how narratives sustain systemic violence patterns across institutional and interpersonal contexts.
