Dr. Nassis Chrysostomos Protopresbyter is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, within the School of Social Theology and Christian Culture. His research focuses on Byzantine liturgical tradition, sources of divine worship, and contemporary liturgical practices of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He teaches courses on Byzantine liturgical history, methodology in liturgical studies, and canonical theology. His work bridges historical analysis of liturgical texts with modern church practices.
Research interests include Byzantine liturgical manuscripts, canon law interpretation, and the interplay between imperial policies and worship practices. He has published extensively on topics such as Eucharistic theology, liturgical reforms in 19th-century Constantinople, and the legacy of Ecumenical Councils in liturgical calendars. His recent studies address contemporary decisions by the Patriarchal Synod of Constantinople regarding sacramental practices.
Publications span monographs, edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles in Greek, English, and Serbian. He actively participates in international conferences on Eastern Christian liturgies and serves as a reviewer for theological journals. His office hours are Mondays 11:00-12:00, Thursdays 10:30-12:00, and Fridays by email appointment.
