Dr. Naseem Al-Aidroos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph, holding roles as Associate Chair and Undergraduate Coordinator. He leads the Visual Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, focusing on understanding how attention and perception operate within visual environments. His work employs techniques such as eye tracking, EEG/ERP, and fMRI to study visual attention, memory, and cognitive mechanisms.
Dr. Al-Aidroos earned his BMath from the University of Waterloo (2004), PhD from the University of Toronto (2010), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University (2011). His research explores the neural and cognitive underpinnings of attention, including how memory influences attentional control and how attentional failures can be mitigated.
He actively mentors undergraduate and graduate students, offering experiential learning opportunities through his lab. His teaching spans courses in cognitive neuroscience, perception, and research methods. Key research themes include visual attention modulation, feature-based attention, and the integration of spatial and categorical attention.
