Narin Osman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University, located at the Bundoora West Campus. Her research focuses on cell signaling pathways, proteoglycan biochemistry, and the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes-related vascular conditions. She actively contributes to academic governance, serving as a grant assessor for the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Diabetes Research Trust. Her work also includes peer review for journals like Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research.
Dr. Osman’s research interests center on extracellular matrix regulation, particularly the role of Smad proteins and proteoglycans in vascular disease. She has secured significant funding, including NHMRC Project Grants and National Heart Foundation grants, to investigate mechanisms underlying atherosclerosis and diabetic complications. Her teaching responsibilities include supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research placements and thesis projects.
Her recent research highlights include studies on Gαq signaling, TGF-β pathway modulation, and novel therapies for diabetic retinopathy using nanotechnology. She maintains active collaborations in drug discovery and vascular biology, emphasizing translational approaches to combat chronic diseases.
