Nardi Steverink is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology/ICS. With over 100 research outputs and active engagement through 2024, Steverink has established herself as a leading researcher in well-being, self-management, and social dynamics across the lifespan.
Steverink's research expertise spans several key domains:
- Self-Management interventions and their effectiveness
- Subjective well-being and life satisfaction across populations
- Social needs and their impact on mental health
- Loneliness and social frailty among older adults
- Positive health interventions in low socioeconomic status communities
- Mental health support systems and community-based approaches
Recent research has focused on community-based interventions for older adults in low SES neighborhoods, self-management of well-being for social assistance recipients, and pandemic impacts on individuals with mental health challenges. Steverink's work demonstrates consistent use of mixed-methods research combining quantitative measures with rich qualitative insights.
Steverink has secured significant research funding including:
- A €460,000 ZonMw grant for the 'Community Wise' project (2016-2020)

As an academic leader, Steverink delivered an inaugural speech titled 'De kracht van sociale relaties' in 2015 and has supervised numerous students.
