Narayanan Srividya is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences at Washington State University. Her work focuses on enzymology and plant biochemistry, particularly in understanding terpene synthases, terpenoid functionalization enzymes, and acyl activating enzymes. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Madras (India, 1997).
Her research explores: (1) structure-function relationships in terpene synthases to explain product specificity, (2) biochemical mechanisms behind terpenoid diversification in mint species, and (3) substrate specificity determinants in acyl-CoA ligases relevant to Taxol biosynthesis. Her studies integrate genomics, molecular dynamics simulations, and enzymatic assays.
Recent publications highlight advancements in menthol biosynthesis pathways, cannabis terpene networks, and genome assemblies of Mentha species. Her work contributes to understanding plant metabolic diversity with applications in agriculture and pharmacology.
Dr. Srividya collaborates on projects involving glandular trichome biology and has published extensively since 1997 across biochemistry, plant physiology, and molecular biology domains. No formal teaching responsibilities are listed, but her research actively informs plant science advancements.
