Naomi Abrahams is a doctoral candidate in Social Work at the University of Ottawa and a Part-Time Professor in the School of Social Work. She holds a Master of Social Work (2021) and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Child, Youth and Family Studies (2019). Her research focuses on children’s rights, domestic violence, and parental alienation, particularly examining how family justice professionals incorporate children’s views in custody cases. She is affiliated with the Feminist Anti-Violence Research Collective (FemAnVi) and the Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory on the Rights of the Child (IRLRC).

Research Interests: Naomi’s work critiques legal and social responses to domestic violence and parental alienation, emphasizing feminist perspectives and children’s rights. Her studies analyze systemic biases in child custody proceedings and the intersection of violence with family law.
Publications: Her recent work explores the impacts of parental alienation allegations on mothers, double standards in child protection, and patient-centered approaches in juvenile arthritis care. Key themes include legal discourse analysis and advocacy for marginalized groups.
