Dr. Nann Fangue serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Wildlife, Fish & Conservation Biology at the University of California, Davis within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, where she leads research on ecological physiology and climate change impacts on aquatic species.
Her educational credentials include:
- B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of West Florida (1999)
- M.S. in Biology from the University of West Florida (2001)
- Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of British Columbia (2007)
Dr. Fangue's research examines physiological responses of fish to climate stressors, with particular focus on salmon conservation and polar species' vulnerability to combined warming and acidification effects. Her 2018 discovery that Antarctic fish cannot simultaneously cope with warming and ocean acidification demonstrates her laboratory's critical contributions to understanding climate change thresholds in vulnerable ecosystems. This work directly informs state and federal conservation strategies, as evidenced by urgent 2023 actions to protect Spring-run Chinook Salmon populations.
