Nancy Plankey-Videla is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University, with a courtesy appointment in the School of Law. She serves as Director of Graduate Studies and Coordinator of the Latino/a and Mexican American Studies (LMAS) Program. Her research focuses on structural inequality, Latinx immigration, gender and work, and community-based research. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Research Interests:
- Immigration Policy and Deportation Effects
- Racialization of Labor in the U.S. and Mexico
- Gender Dynamics in Global Work Contexts
- Social Integration of Deportees
Her articles address wage theft, deportation regimes, precarious entrepreneurship, and transnational labor movements. Recent grants include studies on Mexican reintegration and occupational health challenges among day laborers. Awards include the Dan Clawson Scholar-Activist Award (2022) and the NWSA Book Prize (2012).
