Nancy Noble served as a Lecturer in the School of Design at San Francisco State University from 1979 until her retirement in 2014. She taught courses spanning the entire DAI (now DES) curriculum, including Graphic Reproduction, Computer Graphics Imaging, and Drafting/Sketching. Her roles included Study Abroad Coordinator for over a decade, overseeing international student success, and co-developing an international design workshop with Professor Steve Jones, involving collaborations in Germany and Japan. She also led faculty exchanges, including visits to Brunel University (UK) and multiple institutions in Taiwan.
Her professional contributions extended to academic service: founding the DAI Student Forum, supporting GE Advising Programs, and active participation in the University Academic Senate. She engaged deeply with industry organizations like the San Francisco Club of Litho and Printing House Craftsmen, securing resources for students (scholarships, internships, equipment). Post-retirement, she remains active in creative fields as editor of the San Francisco Bay Area Friends of Calligraphy Bulletin and the SF State Retirement Association, while continuing calligraphy exhibitions and teaching.
Her legacy includes 35 years of recognized achievements in teaching, professional growth, and service at local, national, and international levels.
