Dr. Nancy Matthews serves as Dean of Education and Associate Professor of Education at Crandall University. She transitioned from part-time faculty (2016) to full-time (2022). Her academic journey includes a PhD in Education Studies (University of New Brunswick), MEd in Education Administration (Université de Moncton), BEd (UNB), and BCom (Saint Mary’s University).
Her research focuses on decision-making in educational leadership, professional learning communities, and leadership implementation models. Notable publications include work on leader roles in decision-making and qualitative research methodologies. She actively presents at international conferences such as the International Conference on Educational Leadership and Management (IEAL-J) and BELMAS events.
Awarded Canada’s Outstanding Principals Award and Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, her career spans 30+ years in public education, holding roles from classroom teacher to Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She also teaches graduate courses at UNB and St. Thomas University.
Her professional learning communities research bridges higher education and K-12 systems, emphasizing collaborative institutional growth. Grants and mentorship activities are integral to her work, fostering educational innovation and leadership development.
