Nancy M. Corchado, Ph.D., is an Instructor in the Department of Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is part of the Educational Innovations Team within the Office of Medical Education, focusing on course design and curriculum development using new technologies and virtual environments. Her work integrates intercultural communication, active learning strategies, and online education methodologies.
Dr. Corchado earned her Ph.D. from the University of Salamanca, Spain, with a thesis on self-presence in virtual social worlds. She has over 30 years of academic experience, including teaching Communication courses at universities in Puerto Rico and specializing in Distance Learning since 2011. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning from New Mexico State University and employs innovative approaches such as flipped classrooms and gamification in both online and face-to-face settings.
Her research interests span Online Learning, Adult Education, and the application of virtual environments to enhance educational outcomes. Recent work includes studies on Hispanic populations in healthcare and intercultural communication in multicultural societies.
Dr. Corchado has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences, including discussions on TikTok virality and strategies for reducing bias in healthcare education. She is affiliated with the Jack and Pearl Resnick Campus in Bronx, NY.
