Nancy L Webster

Nancy L Webster serves as an archivist, curator, and Adjunct Professor of archival practices at Dominican University. She currently manages historical collections at the Highland Park (Illinois) Historical Society, where she established the community archives program (Highland Park Archives and Local History Collections) with funding from the National Historic Preservation and Records Commission. Her prior institutional experience includes archival roles at the University of Michigan’s Bentley Historical Library, Chicago History Museum, and Molex Connector Corporation.

Webster holds a Master of Information and Library Studies (MILS) in Archives and History and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French, both from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also completed one year at the Institut des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) at Université de Provence Aix-Marseille.

Her professional focus spans archival science, digital preservation, and community engagement through primary sources. Actively involved with the International Council on Archives and Midwest Archives Conference, she develops open-source archival software tutorials (AtoM) and creates educational exhibits like the 2021 interactive display "Got Chalk: Local flora and fauna." Recent presentations address digital access transformation, women's history in public spaces, and interdisciplinary approaches to local heritage.

Webster has secured state and local grants to expand digital access via the Illinois Digital Archive and Digital Public Library of America, coordinating multi-agency collaborations. Her grant management directly supports community-driven archival projects and public outreach initiatives.
