Nan Zheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas, College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on visible light photoredox catalysis for green synthesis of nitrogen-containing compounds.
Education:
- Ph.D., Organic Chemistry, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
- M.S., Organic Chemistry, University of Rochester
- Postdoc, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Research interests include green chemistry, visible light photoredox catalysis, amine radical cations, and nitrogen-centered radical reactivity. His work enables carbon-carbon bond cleavage and carbon-nitrogen bond formation for structurally diverse compounds.
Recent publications highlight trends in visible light-mediated annulation, electrochemical/photochemical aminations, and biomass conversion. Awards include the NSF CAREER Award and NIH fellowships. He has supervised graduate students like Qile Wang and Elvis Boateng. Teaching involves organic chemistry, organometallics, and spectroscopy at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
