Namyeon Lee

Dr. Namyeon Lee is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), specializing in health and science communication, media psychology, and persuasion. She teaches courses on public relations, social media, and mass communication theory. Her research focuses on improving clinical trial participation, particularly among rural populations, and examining the impact of news framing on emerging technologies like cell-cultured meat. She holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.J. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.

Her work has been published in journals such as Health Communication, Public Understanding of Science, and Science Communication. Current projects include leveraging short-form videos (e.g., TikTok) to enhance clinical trial recruitment and analyzing how visual cues and message framing influence public perception of scientific topics. Dr. Lee received the Top Research Poster Award from the International Communication Association’s Information Systems Division for her innovative contributions.
