Naimah Muhammed-Yakubu is a Lecturer in Strategic Operations and Management at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She combines academic expertise with practical industry experience in Architecture, Project Management, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Big Data Analytics.
Educational Background:
- PhD
- MTech
- PGCert LTHE (Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education)
- Professional Designations: FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy), ACIOB (Associate of the Chartered Institute of Building)
Dr. Muhammed-Yakubu's research focuses on digital transformation in the construction industry through advanced technologies. Her work examines Building Information Modelling (BIM) integration with conversational AI and augmented reality for collaborative construction processes, computer vision and IoT for real-time site monitoring, and predictive analytics for infrastructure efficiency. She develops frameworks for embodied carbon prediction in infrastructure projects and investigates how edge computing can enhance construction management education.
Her publications demonstrate a consistent research trajectory examining how digital technologies can optimize construction workflows, improve safety through behavior-based monitoring, and enhance sustainability in infrastructure development. The research spans practical applications of BIM, risk management frameworks, and data-driven approaches to resource allocation in construction projects.
Professional Collaborations:
- Industry projects with Oyo State Government in Nigeria for sector-based feasibility research
- Joint research with Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico on Edge Computing applications in higher education
- Collaborations with industry partners on Transport and Infrastructure Efficiency Living Labs (TIES Living Labs)
Dr. Muhammed-Yakubu leads the Strategic Operations Management (SOM) subject group, focusing on delivering exceptional learning experiences and curriculum development that integrates research findings with teaching practice. Her current research initiatives include Conversational BIM, CV-SMART (Computer Vision and IoT for personalized Site Monitoring Analytics in Real-Time), and ASPEC (AI System for Predicting Embodied Carbon).
