Naika Colas is an Assistant Professor of Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design, The New School. She is also the founder of Eco-Friendly Fashion brand Jacques Louis and serves as Director of Sustainability and Marketing Lead at Ovation In-Store. Her work focuses on sustainable design strategies, environmental justice, and community development, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
Education: Master of Professional Studies in Design Management from Pratt Institute (2018) and Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Chemistry minor from Fairleigh Dickinson University (2010s).
Research Interests: Gender Equality, Climate Action, Sustainable Fashion, Social Justice, and Regenerative Supply Chains. She emphasizes the intersection of nature, human experiences, and systems thinking in design.
Recent Publications include a 2023 article exploring women's empowerment in Tanzania's coffee sector through creative enterprise. Awards include Pratt's Sustainability Guru (2018) and multiple grants supporting global initiatives.
Led workshops in Tanzania and Haiti via Pratt grants and serves on boards of Kay Tita and Impact Hub (Haiti). Active in NYC Fair Trade Coalition and New York Fashion Workforce Development Coalition governance.
