Naglaa Elskenidy serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy within the College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University, a position she has held since 2020. She coordinates the Clinical Physiology course and teaches across the Clinical Skills course series and Neurological Clinical Medical and Pharmacology curriculum with specialized instruction in electromyography (EMG). With over 30 years of outpatient clinical practice, Dr. Elskenidy specializes in vestibular rehabilitation for conditions including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Meniere’s disease, and balance disorders, while also managing orthopedic and geriatric patient cases.
Her educational background includes:
- Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy, Clinical Electrophysiology from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Provo, Utah (2005)
- Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School, North Chicago, IL (1996)
- Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt (1990)
Dr. Elskenidy's research program focuses on Clinical Electrophysiology, specifically EMG as a diagnostic tool interpreted by physical therapists, clinical physiology education frameworks within U.S. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs, and evidence-based outpatient orthopedic physical therapy protocols. Her work bridges academic instruction with direct clinical application to optimize patient outcomes in neuromuscular assessment.
Her 2023 exploratory survey on EMG knowledge among Illinois physical therapists examines diagnostic tool utilization patterns in clinical settings. This research contributes to the broader disciplines of Physical Therapy and Clinical Electrophysiology, with specific emphasis on practitioner competency assessment, state-level practice variations, and diagnostic methodology education.
