Professor Nadine Riedel is a leading academic in Public and Regional Economics at the University of Münster, where she directs the Institute for Public and Regional Economics. She holds a Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (summa cum laude) and previously served as a Research Fellow at Oxford University’s Centre for Business Taxation. Her academic career includes professorships at Ruhr-University Bochum and the University of Hohenheim.
Her research focuses on international corporate taxation, development economics, and the intersection of public finance with regional policy. She investigates topics such as tax avoidance by multinational firms, fiscal policies in developing countries, and the economic impacts of tax treaties.
Recent work includes analyzing South Africa’s tax registration reforms, India’s Special Economic Zones, and the regulatory challenges posed by the sharing economy. Her projects are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), including the Research Unit FOR 2738 exploring multinational corporations and international tax institutions.
Professor Riedel serves as Editor-in-Chief of International Tax and Public Finance and advises the German Federal Ministry of Finance. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges theoretical economics with practical policy design, contributing to both academic journals and public discourse on fiscal issues.
