Nadine El Sayed

Nadine El Sayed is an Associate Professor of Practice at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at The American University in Cairo (AUC). She is also an editor for Nature Africa and Nature Middle East (MENA), prominent science publications in the region, and contributes regular columns to Al-Shorouk Newspaper.

• Education: PhD and MA in Media Studies from the University of Westminster, UK; BA in Journalism and Mass Communication and Bachelor of Business Administration from AUC.

Her research focuses on digital media dynamics in the Arab world, including blogging, microblogging, and the political economy of media. She explores financial models of new media, women’s representation in Arab media, and indie music production. El Sayed’s career spans editorial leadership at Egypt Today, Business Today, and 19TwentyThree, an online women’s magazine she founded.
