Dr. Nadia Singh is a Lecturer in Economics at Northumbria University since 2017, affiliated with the Department of Economics in the Business and Law School. She holds a PhD from Oxford Brookes University (2017), M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (2013), and degrees from Panjab University and Delhi University. Her research focuses on political economy of bioenergy, child health outcomes, food security, and gender equality in developing countries. She previously worked as a Research Fellow at The Institute of Development and Communication in India, contributing to policy reports on gender equality and renewable energy deployment.
Research Interests: Dr. Singh’s work bridges economic development with social justice, particularly examining how policy frameworks impact vulnerable populations. Her signature projects include analyzing inheritance rights’ impact on child health in Kenya and India, and documenting informal women workers’ experiences during the pandemic in Punjab. She also explores bioenergy sustainability through an ecosocialist lens and pedagogical innovations in economics education.
Key Contributions: Her doctoral work proposed a multiple-stakeholder framework for equitable bioenergy development. She has advised Indian government policy initiatives and published widely in interdisciplinary journals across economics, public health, and cultural studies.
