Nadia Ayed is a PhD student at Queen Mary University of London, funded by the London Interdisciplinary School Science Doctoral Training Partnership (ESRC). Her research examines homelessness and housing precarity through a social capital lens, integrating insights from Geography, Sociology, Psychology, and Anthropology. She holds an honorary contract with East London NHS Foundation Trust and collaborates with NHS homelessness services and third-sector organizations.
Academically, Ayed earned a First Class Honours BA in Psychology, Politics, and Sociology from the University of Cambridge, followed by an MSc (Distinction) in Mental Health Studies at King’s College London. She completed an internship at the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (funded via LISS-DTP) and previously worked as a Research Assistant at Cambridge’s Centre for Family Research, studying adoptive family dynamics.
Her supervisory team includes Prof. Stefan Priebe, Dr. Victoria Bird (Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry), and Dr. Janelle Jones (School of Biological and Chemical Sciences). Her work bridges qualitative and quantitative methods, addressing policy-relevant questions about marginalised populations.
