Nadeesha Jayaweera

Dr. Nadeesha Jayaweera is an Assistant Professor in Statistics at the University of Akron. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics (Statistics concentration) from Texas Tech University, complemented by an M.S. in Statistics from the same institution and a B.S. in Mathematics from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Her research develops statistical methodologies for complex real-world problems including disease outbreak detection, traffic congestion modeling, and information criterion validation. Specializes in Bayesian approaches, spatio-temporal analysis, and graph-theoretic applications to transportation networks.

Recent publications focus on improving reliability of model selection techniques and creating adaptive statistical frameworks for public health surveillance. Maintains active research program bridging theoretical statistics with applications in epidemiology and urban planning.
