Nabita Singh is a Lecturer in the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences at Monash University. She coordinates multiple academic programs including the Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging (Honours), Bachelor of Radiation Sciences, Grad Cert MRI, and Master of Radiation Therapy. Her teaching expertise encompasses evidence-based practice, research methodology, and healthcare ethics. She actively supervises undergraduate research students and contributes to curriculum development.
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science, University of Auckland
- Master of Bioscience Enterprise, University of Auckland
Her research focuses on the intersection of medical imaging and neuroscience, particularly using functional MRI to study chronic cough hypersensitivity. She investigates central nervous system pathways involved in sensory processing and cough reflex modulation. Her work also spans primary health care, radiation safety, ultrasound imaging, and allied health education. She contributes to research in obesity management in general practice and neonatal cranial ultrasound surveillance.
Her recent publications (2020–2024) reflect a strong trend in medical imaging applications in respiratory and neurological conditions, breast cancer treatment monitoring, and clinical practice in primary and neonatal care. Key themes include chronic cough neurobiology, MRI utility in oncology, and implementation challenges of clinical guidelines.
Nabita has been actively involved in peer review and editorial work, serving as Editor-in-Chief for Elsevier since 2020. She has also contributed to external research and teaching activities, including non-HDR supervisions and academic collaborations.
She supervises Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging students in a research environment and has been involved in nationally funded research projects, including an NHMRC study on cranial ultrasound in neonates and a project on GPs’ role in managing compensable injuries. She has not received any explicitly mentioned scientific awards.
Nabita is also a part-time PhD candidate at Monash University, researching central pathways in chronic cough hypersensitivity using fMRI, supervised by experts from Monash and the University of Melbourne.
